Einar Telnes
Einar is an expert on emissions trading, as well as CDM and JI projects. He has also been instrumental in assisting national and international programmes develop monitoring and reporting principles.
experience: Einar has many years of experience in the construction sector. The past decade, he has been directly involved in more than 80 greenhouse gas projects in 15 different industry sectors. These projects have taken him to over 40 nations around the world. Einar was involved in developing the first monitoring and reporting principles for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the World Bank PCF, and the first Dutch ERUPT program. Governments and international organisations frequently use him as a speaker on baseline, monitoring, and verification issues. background:

Thomas Baumann
Tom is an expert in evaluating climate change technologies and projects and has been extensively involved in the international standardisation of project-level greenhouse gas (GHG) quantification. He mainly covers Canada and the US.
experience: Tom is the Manager of Operations for DNV's Climate Change Services in North America. He has over 7 years experience focused on GHG due diligence of technologies and projects in which he has managed many multidisciplinary teams.
Tom has been a major contributor to the development of GHG best practices for several years, and he is the lead author of the new ISO 14064-2 Standard for GHG Projects.
Prior to joining DNV, Tom established and managed the GHG measurement and reporting systems for the Government of Canada’s climate change technology investment fund, which has a total investment of more than $1 billion in more than 100 GHG technology demonstration projects. background: Tom has also consulted on techno-economic, strategic and policy assessments for companies and governments in the areas of climate change and clean energy. Michael has managed the validation and verification of numerous CDM and JI projects worldwide. The projects range from renewable energy to projects in the waste management and agriculture sector. He also gained experience with verifying emissions for the Norwegian process, pulp and paper, and oil and gas industry. background: Michael holds a master of environmental sciences from the Swiss Federal Technical Institute in Zurich. |

Gustavo Godínez
Gustavo's area of expertise is the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). He works primarily with renewable energy projects.
experience:
Gustavo has worked on more than 20 CDM projects in Latin America. All projects are related to the generation of electricity using waste, biomass, wind, and water instead of fossil fuel. Projects he has worked on include wind farms in Columbia and hydro projects in Guatemala, Honduras, México, and Columbia.
As a DNV employee since 1996, Gustavo has extensive certification experience from the oil and gas industry. As a lead auditor, he is qualified to conduct audits of quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety management systems. In addition to experience from the oil and gas sector, Gustavo has experience with thermo-electrical plants. background: Gustavo has a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. |

She has specialised in accounting and verification procedures of carbon dioxide capture and storage activities, and is involved in the development work the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) does on greenhouse gas accounting rules and procedures.

Susanne has managed the validation of a number of CDM and JI projects in Eastern Europe, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. Susanne has co-authored several papers on monitoring, reporting, and verification guidelines for CO2 capture and storage activities. Before joining DNV, Susanne worked at the International Energy Agency (IAE) in Paris, France, as an energy analyst. She has also managed the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s Clean Development Mechanism and Energy Business program. background:
Susanne has a degree in Political Science and Economic History, in addition to a post-graduate degree in Environmental Resources Management. She also holds an executive master of business administration (MBA) at the UK’s Open University. |

Luis Filipe has broad expertise from the landfill, energy, and transport industry. This is experience he has brought with him into the validation and verification of CDM projects in Brazil. He is also a lead auditor for certification of management systems against the quality standard ISO 9001, the environmental standard ISO 14001, and the occupational health and safety standard OHSAS 18001. Before joining DNV, Luis Filipe worked in a steel plant (USIMINAS) for 23 years as a technical engineer and head of office for environmental control. background: Luis is a graduate in Metallurgical Engineering. |

Penny Baalman
Penny is an expert in forest greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and has been extensively involved in the standardisation of forest GHG projects at state, national and international levels. Penny is DNV’s specialist in forest GHG projects.
experience:
Penny’s main experience and expertise is in the development of auditable forest GHG accounting systems and in the standardisation of project-level and forest sector GHG accounting. Penny has contributed substantially to the development of the NSW Greenhouse Gas Abatement Scheme in respect to forest projects, the Australian Standard in forest carbon accounting, ISO 14064 International Standard for GHG Projects and the WRI/WBCSD GHG Protocol. Other GHG-related experience includes forest carbon credit marketing and emissions trading, and management of forest GHG research projects. Penny began working on climate change issues in 1999, and she joined DNV from the role of manager carbon accounting with Forests New South Wales in Australia where she was responsible for the creation of the first scheme-approved carbon credits from a forest project.
