The Nauticus Air and Nauticus Environment modules offer an easy, low-cost method for ship owners and operators to monitor their environmental performance. The system is configurable to customer needs and based on maritime best practices. Once the relevant monitoring and measurement parameters have been selected, the environmental indicators provide information on emissions to air, waste handling and discharges to sea.

Emissions to air – shipping can also improve The shipping industry is facing strong international pressure to reduce its CO2, NOx and SOx emissions. In addition, economic instruments are being established at national levels. In this respect, the guidelines proposed by the IMO for a standardised Energy Efficiency Operational Indicator (EEOI) are a suitable measure to use. The EEOI is calculated on the basis of the fuel consumed, cargo transported and distance sailed, as well as carbon emission factors. The computed indicator values can be compared for a fleet, sister ships or specific periods of time and eventually be used to minimise emissions from transport. This benchmarking approach can help to drive the shipping industry towards higher energy efficiency and lower emissions.

Nauticus Air Nauticus Air allows the fuel consumption, transported cargo and distance sailed to be registered. Using the calculation method and carbon emission factors specified and recommended by the IMO, the EEOI is calculated on a day-by-day basis or over a selected period, such as a voyage leg, and shown in graphical charts. Air emissions, such as SOx, NOx, PM and CH4, are shown in the reports. Vessel data may be registered via the noon and port reports in the DNV Navigator product or via a specific input form. The xml-files are sent via mail to the DNV server and imported into the central database. With an internet connection, users may also use the web registration tool directly.

Nauticus Environment Nauticus Environment is an extended Environmental Performance System based on maritime best practices. In addition to the EEOI, it also includes registration and reporting on other aspects, such as discharges to sea, ballast water, chemicals, etc – configurable to your company’s needs and set-up.

Benefits

  • Supports international standards, including Global Reporting Initiative standards, ISO 14001 and IMO MEPC Circ./471

  • Produces EEOI charts and air emission reports for the vessels in your fleet (Nauticus Air) or a total overview of your environmental profile (Nauticus Environment)

  • Emission factors and calculations verified by DNV

  • Benchmarking against industry best practices to document and profile your environmental performance both internally and externally

  • A flexible way of reporting according to defined indicators, aggregation levels and user access rights

  • Charterers, authorities and other stakeholders are increasingly demanding schemes for the continuous improvement of environmental performance.
