Section for Control Systems is part of DNV Maritime with primary competence within systems, components and instrumentation for control, monitoring, alarm and safety applications in the maritime and offshore industry.

As part of the classification process, the section for control systems is responsible for design assessment of all control systems for which requirements are stated in the DNV Rules and other relevant regulations constituting scope of class. The following list gives an overview of the majority of these control systems:

  • Alarm systems
  • Power management systems
  • Integrated control systems
  • Remote control of machinery for propulsion such as diesel engines and steam turbines
  • Bridge control of steering and propulsion (rudders, fixed and controllable pitch propellers, thrusters and water jets)

  • Control of water tight doors and shell openings
