DNV SeaSkill™ assists training providers and manufacturers in assuring that competence is properly addressed, built and retained.

Classification of Training is a 4-step verification system aimed at achieving uniform quality of training within the maritime industry. Each step/service can also be verified and certified independently.

  • Certification of Maritime Education and Training – verification that training providers' management systems are in compliance with mandatory requirements.
  • Certification of Maritime Simulator Systems – verification that the simulator used is in compliance with the DNV Standard for Certification No. 214 Maritime Simulator Systems.
  • Certification of Learning Programmes – verification that the training courses/programmes are in compliance with the DNV Standard for Certification No. 3.201 Learning Programmes and relevant industry standards.
  • Benchmarking of Training Providers – assessment of the training centres delivery performance and capabilities. Certification of Maritime Education and Training is required.

Undertaking classification of training ensures alignment with industry needs and requirements. This leads to both strengthened reputation and recognition within the market in addition to improved relations with government and ship managers.
