Certification of Maritime Education and Training assists maritime training providers to develop and deliver high quality courses and programmes

Certification of Maritime Education and Training (MET) verifies that the training providers' management systems are in compliance with mandatory requirements.

DNV SeaSkill™ provides Standards for Certification designed to facilitate fulfilment of STCW-requirements for:

• No. 3.401 Maritime Academies
• No. 3.402 Maritime Training Centres
• No. 3.403 Maritime Simulator Centres

These standards give maritime training providers the opportunity to ensure that courses and programmes being offered are properly designed, contain clear objectives as to results, are delivered by qualified instructors and are evaluated and improved in line with market demands and developments.

The maritime training providers may include quality objectives in addition to those covered by above mentioned standards and the certification service may then be used to verify that the arrangements needed for the achievement of such objectives are implemented and maintained. Maritime training providers shall comply with additional mandatory requirements which are not covered in these standards.

Training Providers with a management system that is in compliance with one of the above DNV Standards for Certification receive a DNV certificate.
