The objective is to check the vessels ullage/sounding tables against independent calculations performed by DNV. Ullage/sounding tables are normally not subject to approval by DNV.

We do however have a voluntary service on verifying ullage/sounding tables of the cargo tanks. If the tables are found to be in order, a cargo tank "Calibration Certificate" is issued. This implies that the ullage/sounding tables are checked by independent calculations, on a computer model based on the hull classification drawings. Normally, no measurements are carried out on board by DNV.

DNV normally has a complete stability model for approval purpose which also can be utilized for verification purposes.
