DNV ensures that CR is an integral part of its management system and business culture.
Managing the New Risk Reality means staying ahead in all facets of sustainable development: economically, environmentally and socially. This is referred to as the triple-bottom-line; it represents a balance which increasingly focuses on the need to align corporate goals with those of society.
DNV’s stakeholders and society at large expect corporate transparency, and that business decision-making is linked to ethical values.
CR in DNV is about enhancing the positive impacts our core business activities have on society. This must manifest itself in:
- How we conduct our business; and
- How the company is managed.
Important aspects in this regard are DNV’s business conduct in relation to for example ethics and corruption and how the company is managed with respect to diversity, communication, transparency, involvement in the local community and in global policy making.
DNV has a global CSR Board that is responsible for developing annual action plans and to continuously evaluate DNV’s CR commitment to ensure that we meet stakeholder expectations. The CR action plans are based on reviews of DNV’s CR performance as well as thorough examinations of why and how DNV should work with CR internally. The plans are living documents with the purpose of serving the changing needs and expectations of DNV’s stakeholders. The main focus areas of the Action plans are:
- Governance and business ethics
- Communication and transparency
- Safety, health and the environment
- Community involvement, partnerships and international collaboration.
