DNV’s presence in the region dates back to 1888 when the first non-exclusive DNV office was opened in Melbourne to service foreign trading vessels. Our commitment to the maritime industry is demonstrated by a network of fully exclusive offices ensuring comprehensive coverage, and staffed by a highly trained and competent workforce.

Maritime services
We have provided extensive support to the innovative high speed designers and builders which have emerged from Australia since the 1980’s. DNV was the first class society which had the vision and technical expertise to support this developing segment, assisting in the success for Australian shipbuilding industry. DNV remains as the foremost class society for high speed and innovative craft.

Our offices providing maritime services are located in Sydney, Fremantle, Melbourne, Hobart, Auckland, Darwin, Brisbane and Cairns as well as a non-exclusive office in Adelaide. The main office is located in Sydney and consists of the Maritime Management department, the Sydney Survey Station, the Approval Centre, the main Certification Office and administration support.

We provide a broad range of services within newbuilding, classification, offshore, ship in operation, certification and advisory services.

Environmental and management system services
DNV ANZ also provides extensive environmental services and was amongst the first organisations accredited for environmental management in Australia. We validate that Clean Development Mechanism projects are in accordance with the Kyoto protocol and assist in emission reduction projects. In particular, this includes determination, verification, certification and milestone audits.

Management System Certifications are issued in industry sectors such as mining, forestry and forest products, waste management, construction, defence, air transport, automobile, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, nickel refining, pulp and paper and the petrochemical industry besides service sector.

We are providing a broad range of certification services for major organisations such as Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton, Holden, PBR, Note Printing Australia, Toll Logistics, Telstra Billing, Kellogg Brown & Root Asia Pacific, Australian Submarine Corporation, Gunns, BP Refinery, DuPont, and many other companies of all types and sizes.

DNV Region ANZ offers management system training in areas of Quality, Safety and Environment. We offer courses to build awareness for specific or integrated management systems, as well as courses to enhance skills in managing and conducting internal and external audits.
