In an important strategic move to further strengthen its Risk Management and Corporate Responsibility Unit, the new DNV division has announced the appointment of Henning Kristoffersen as Principal Consultant, beginning January 2011.

Mr Kristoffersen, a 42 year old Norwegian, has for past year been Director of International Relations at the Norwegian School of Management BI in Oslo, Norway. He is a well respected and recognised authority on China.

“We welcome Henning to DNV. He joins us with a wealth of knowledge, and will be valued member of our team,” says Bjorn K. Haugland, COO of DNV’s Sustainability and Innovation division. “Henning’s vast experience in China and his extensive network make him an ideal person to strengthen our risk management advisory services towards companies establishing operations in China, as well as Chinese companies going abroad.”

Mr Kristoffersen will be based at DNV’s headquarters in Oslo, Norway. In his new role, he will act as an advisor to the division’s leadership team and further develop DNV’s business portfolio in China and Asia. He will also work with a broad range of projects relating to DNV’s risk management and corporate responsibility services.

“I am looking forward to working for DNV. It’s a major player in the field of managing risk and there’s a growing demand for its services,” says Mr Kristoffersen. “There are several strong forces and trends that are driving this demand: environmental concerns, globalisation, corporate responsibility, and sustainable growth are direct business drivers for DNV.”

Mr Kristoffersen has over 20 years experience of working with Chinese relations, including two years as head of the Nordic Centre at Fudan University in Shanghai. His background includes entrepreneurship, trade, consultancy, teaching and management positions within business education in China.
