“DNV is perceived as an environmental voice that is worth listening to by customers as well as authorities world wide. Eirik Nyhus will play a key role in safeguarding this position and strengthening DNV’s role as a trusted body,” says Tor Svensen, the COO of DNV Maritime.

Mr Nyhus will be located at the headquarters in Høvik, Norway and will assist Mr Svensen in his role as COO.

Tor Svensen adds: “As a front runner, DNV needs to understand and evaluate the implications of the environmental factors in its business strategy and operations. The role as director environment is intended to secure this position.”

“I’m humble but really motivated,” says Eirik Nyhus. “Although shipping is the least polluting way of transporting goods, the whole shipping industry is facing a tougher future and we all have to strive hard to reduce emissions to air and discharges to sea. DNV is prepared and has to act.”
