Market Survey 2010.

Environmental Finance and Carbon Finance – two of the leading global publications covering environmental markets – have named the winners in their annual market survey. DNV has been ranked

  • Best Verification Company EU ETS
  • Best Verification Company Kyoto Project Credits (JI & CDM)
  • Best Verification Company Australasian Markets
  • Runner-up Best Verification Company North American Mandatory Markets (Mandatory & Pre-compliance)

“The survey – the most closely watched poll of sentiment across carbon, renewable energy, weather risk and emissions markets – reveals those firms that their clients, peers and competitors have judged to have provided the best service over the previous twelve months,” said Mark Nicholls, editor of Environmental Finance.

“It’s been a tough year, whether in renewable energy, carbon trading, or the beleaguered US sulphur dioxide and nitrous oxide allowance markets,” said Mr Nicholls and added, “Continuing economic uncertainty has dulled public concern about environmental issues, and that’s fed through to regulatory uncertainty across the range of environmental markets. Combine that with the lingering effects of the financial crisis, and environmental markets are still a lot less buoyant than they were two years ago,” he added.

“However, the winners of this year’s survey, including DNV in the Verification Class, are those that have stayed the course through the tough times – they are well-positioned to grow their environmental markets businesses as conditions improve,” he said. “Time and again, survey respondents voted for those firms with a long heritage in what are still youthful markets, and rewarded commitment to helping their clients navigate often complex and fast-moving regulatory environments.”

Commenting on being recognized as the ‘Best Verifier’, Stein B. Jensen, head of DNV’s Climate Change and Environmental Services Unit said, “We are delighted to have been chosen as the best verifier by the readers of these leading monthly publications. The award reflects the standing DNV has in the market place and our dedication to building trust and confidence in the low carbon economy. To be nominated as the best verifier takes overall high standards of performance and, as such, is a tribute to all the management and staff in our global network. Without their concerted effort it would have not been possible.”

The voters were asked to vote only in those categories in which they had direct experience and to make their judgment on the basis of: efficiency and speed of transaction: reliability: innovation: quality of information and service provided: and influence on the market.
