DNV’s previous experience in the healthcare sector and their past work with NHS Connecting for Health were crucial in securing the contract.

National Programme for IT seeks to digitalise medical records in England in order to improve information management and ultimately patient care.

The governing body, NHS Connecting for Health, a National Health Service agency, awarded DNV a contract to assist them in controlling the human risk element in the major change programme enabled by IT. The task is to educate 1,000 clinicians and other personnel involved in the design and implementation of the programme, and have a focus on patient safety and the importance of human factors.

“Controlling human risk is the most important aspect regarding the new information system,” says Mark Boult, principal consultant for DNV’s UK healthcare division.
