Being a comprehensive and flexible system that benefits companies of all sizes, there are many parameters that need to be considered during its implementation. Many of these factors need to be considered at outset during the design phase and meticulously aligned with operating processes during commissioning. Due to implementation timeline pressures, in many cases the default reference values chosen for parameters and their control processes are based on operating and environmental assumptions guided by experience. While these practices and estimates may be effective in improving efficiency, and reducing costs for a while, they may not yield the best possible results over the long term. It is consequently necessary to periodically review the system’s performance to establish if its functioning conforms to plan.
